Portland’s extensive, award-winning transit network makes it easy for your employees to get just about anywhere. Incentivize their use of the system by opting in for Universal Hop Pass.

  • Lloyd Universal Hop Pass is a program through which employers provide an annual transit pass to each of their qualified employees for a fraction of the cost of a regular TriMet monthly or annual pass. The Universal Hop Pass consists of a personalized Hop card and allows the holder one year of unlimited riding on virtually all public transportation in the Portland metro area.

  • Universal Hop Pass is available to any employer located in the Lloyd neighborhood. If your company or agency is headquartered elsewhere but has a worksite in the neighborhood, your Lloyd-based employees are eligible for the program.

  • You must purchase a pass for every employee who qualifies, regardless of whether that employee uses transit. Universal Hop Pass is designed to encourage the use of public transportation by making it an inexpensive and easy alternative. Putting a pass in every employee’s hand means at least some of them will give transit a try, even if they’ve never done so before.

  • Your company or agency pays for the passes up front. Employers may then pass some or all of the cost on to their employees. If your employees pay for all or a portion of their passes, they may do so using pre-tax payroll deductions, saving them even more money.

  • More employees taking transit to work means fewer employees driving. Fewer cars means less congestion on our neighborhood streets; more parking for customers, clients, and visitors; and reduced carbon emissions and dependence on oil. In addition, offering Universal Hop Pass as a benefit can help recruit and retain employees, and allowing employees to pay for their pass through pre-tax deductions reduces your payroll taxes.

  • The first step is administering a survey to your qualified employees. (We can help you determine who qualifies.) The survey asks about your employees’ current commuting habits and only takes about five minutes to complete. The program year runs from September 1 through August 31, but you may join at any time at a pro-rated cost.

  • Go Lloyd will analyze your survey results and send you a summary report. You’ll enter into an agreement with Go Lloyd and TriMet to purchase passes through us. We’ll deliver your personalized Hop passes for distribution to your employees.
