Monthly Keaton Otis Vigil
Join our community partners, the Lloyd EcoDistrict, for the Keaton Otis Vigil each month on the 12th from 6 to 7 PM at the intersection of NE Halsey Street & NE 6th Avenue in Lloyd.
The monthly vigil for Keaton Otis is held at 6pm on the 12th of every month.
Keaton Otis was a young Black man killed by the Portland police on May 12, 2010 in Lloyd in 2010 at NE 6th and NE Halsey. The police admitted they stopped him for “looking like a gangster.” Keaton’s father Fred Bryant started the monthly vigil on the 12th of the month after his son’s murder on the spot where Keaton’s life was taken. Fred Bryant did this for over three years, fighting for justice for his son, every single month in the rain, the dark, the heat, and the snow. Fred Bryant passed away on October 29, 2013.
His family and community have committed to continuing the vigils every month on the 12th, until justice is achieved for Keaton, for Fred, and for our whole community.
Since 2019 Lloyd EcoDistrict has been working with the Black-led Justice for Keaton Otis collective to memorialize the life of Keaton Otis. Join community members at the corner of NE 6th and NE Halsey on the 12th of every month at 6:00 PM to remember Keaton and call for justice.

POSTPONED: Climate Ballot 101
UPDATE: Climate Curious and Lloyd EcoDistrict have been having some chats internally and with our panelists coming out of the elections last week. As you can imagine, it’s thrown a lot of questions into the legislative agenda and we came to the tough decision that we think this event can be much more impactful if we take a bit more time to process this outcome and pivot accordingly. We sincerely apologize for this postponement and look forward to convening in due time as we recommit to helping build the world we want to live in by accelerating climate innovation here in Portland. We’ll set a new date and time soon and keep you posted.
Grab a beer from Upright Brewing next door and join this informative session with Lloyd EcoDistrict and Climate Curious, where they break down the key climate issues on the agenda for Oregon’s upcoming legislative session. From transportation (including the state transportation package, I-5 bridge, and electric vehicles) to clean tech manufacturing and electrical transmission, let’s explore the policies that will shape our climate future—and how community support can influence these decisions.
